Pediatric Ophthalmology includes all aspects of children’s eye care.
We provide general wellness exams, glasses and contact lens
prescriptions, therapy for amblyopia (lazy eye), treatment of medical
problems such as strabismus, and eye surgery when indicated.

Exams

An eye examination is an evaluation of visual acuity as well as the
health of your child’s eyes. A thorough eye exam will detect eye health
problems, prevent deteriorating eyesight, and provide a prescription if
correction is needed for reading, distance vision, computer use, or any
combination of these. The American Association for Pediatric
Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) recommends regular eye examinations to detect vision deficiencies and disease. An infant or child doesn't have to respond verbally to obtain an accurate prescription. Most prescriptions, however, require dilation of the eyes with eye drops, a simple and safe procedure that can take up to an hour to do.

How often you see the eye doctor depends on your age and stage in life. You should also bring your child in at any time if you notice unusual symptoms.
